Camping on the Farm
Updated: Sep 23, 2021
Visiting our adopted family, Mike & Becky Kesler & their 8 kids, is always a real treat! They have a very busy hay farm, so the place is buzzing with activity every time we visit. Every child has responsibilities, some out in the fields, and some around the home.
One special treat we had was s’mores over a fire. Everyone has fun, and everyone got sticky!
The weather was perfect, so we spent time on our lounge chairs, watching the kids, petting the dogs, and seeing the elk gather in the evening.
We had plans to submit papers to serve a Church mission at one of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints camps in Washington. However, Becky told us the local camp really needed missionaries. We met with Elder Miller, the Camp Host, toured Camp Peine (pronounced Piney), and decided to see if we could serve there. Our mission will be mid-April to early September for the next two years. We are very excited!
We had a lot of fun cooking and visiting the Kesler clan. Since they have a pellet grill like the Traeger, I got some experience cooking tri-tip and pork chops. Each came out perfect, and were enjoyed by all. This convinced me that we need a Traeger! After comparing a bunch of models, we chose the Ranger portable. It’ll arrive in a couple weeks in Vancouver. Can’t wait!
